FLINT MOUNTAIN made history by reaching the Welsh Cup quarter-finals while Buckley Town and Connah’s Quay Nomads will also be in this week’s last-eight draw.

Ardal League side Mountain beat South Gower 2-1 at The New Saints’ Park Hall ground with boss Aden Shannon saying: “I’m so, so proud of the players. They were immense.”

Buckley Town’s 2-0 victory at Cymru North rivals Porthmadog was just as impressive with interim boss Asa Hamilton saying exactly the same about his cup fighters.

“ I’m so proud of them,” he told the club’s Facebook page.

Nomads beat their landlords Flint Town United 3-0 in the televised clash on S4C on Saturday evening.

“I think it was always a potential banana skin,” said Nomads boss Neil Gibson. “That’s probably why the cameras were here, you know, Flint against Connah’s Quay.

“But I thought that we were in complete control of the game for the majority of it.”

Also through to the next round are TNS, Bala Town, Briton Ferry Llansawel and Cardiff Met.
