IT’S a quieter spell this weekend for the Deeside Dragons.

Following last week’s double-header with local rivals Widnes Wild, there’s just one match on the horizon for the Dragons this time out with Sunday’s home match versus Sheffield Scimitars.

“It’s a home game again, but we can’t underestimate them,” said Dragons’ assistant head coach Matt Compton.

“We have got to go in with our top game.

“It’s a tough league. We have got to go in with the right mindset on Sunday and get back into that winning habit.”

Tomorrow: Hull Jets v Nottingham Lions; Widnes Wild v Whitley Warriors. Sunday: Billingham Stars v Blackburn Hawks; Nottingham Lions v Widnes Wild; Whitley Warriors v Solihull Barons.

Connah’s Quay Cobras are in action on Sunday as they host the Bradford Ice Wolves.

Cobras have boosted their roster with the signing of highly experienced former Deeside Dragons forward Chris Keating.

Keating (pictured right) is a veteran of over 140 NIHL appearances over seven seasons with Lancashire Raptors, Altrincham Aces and Deeside Dragons and in that time, he has scored 60 goals and 60 assists.

Keating’s arrival at the Cobras brings the team contingent of players with league experience to six as he joins Sam Krempasky, Kenny Williams and Sam Plant (all Deeside Dragons), Kieran Clarkson (Bradford and Altrincham) and Stewart Cutting (Slough Jets).

Keating said: “I’m excited about the prospect of playing for the Cobras.

“I’ve been really impressed with the organisation and vision of the club. Emma and Scott (Dutton) have set up a really interesting concept in regards to what the club offers.

“The club focuses on good values but also incorporates technology and statistics to improve players and the team.”
