CHIRK AAA are facing a pivotal spell in their quest to avoid Cymru North relegation.

At the foot of the table and eight points from safety as they approach the end of the year, Chirk are looking forward to tomorrow’s home meeting with 11th-placed Prestatyn Town.

“We are starting to hit the territory of chances to pick up results are less and less,” admitted joint-boss Gary Jones.

An injury crisis has hampered Chirk’s efforts to climb the standings and they will have up to seven players missing for the meeting with Prestatyn.

“It’s players that haven’t been injured before picking up semi-long term injuries,” added Jones.

“They are four-to-six week-long injuries. We are playing well and the only way to turn your position around is to play games.

“I believe in the lads we have got.

“I believe if we get that one result, we will get a few.”

There is hope for Chirk, who pushed leaders Airbus hard in a 3-2 loss last time out.

“We hit the crossbar and hit the post and their goalkeeper was awarded man of the match,” said Jones.

Llanidloes host Ruthin Town tomorrow, while Denbigh Town, who went fourth after a 2-2 draw at Llandudno on Wednesday night, head in the other direction to Guilsfield.
