“YOU just couldn’t write it” is Neil Gibson’s take on Connah’s Quay Nomads’ Welsh Cup journey this season.

Last month, Nomads were paired with Prestatyn Town - a side that Gibson led to Welsh Cup glory and into Europe for the first time in their history 10 years ago.

Nomads spanked Prestatyn 8-0 and their reward was a fourth round clash at another of Gibson’s former sides, Flint Town United, in front of the TV cameras tomorrow evening.

“To go up against one of your old sides but then to get Flint in the next round, you just couldn’t write it,” said Gibson, whose Nomads side are this season ground-sharing with their arch rivals, who are managed by former Wrexham captain Lee Fowler.

“Fowls is doing a good job and it should be a good game and a decent crowd there too.”

Flint Mountain and Buckley Town are also still in the competition. Mountain face South Gower at TNS’ Park Hall ground while Buckley head to Porthmadog.

Wrexham are also involved in Welsh Women’s Cup action with a home tie against Briton Ferry Llansawel at The Rock on Sunday.
