WALES Under-21s slipped to their first defeat in qualifying for the 2025 European Championship as they went down 2-1 against Denmark at Rodney Parade.

The opening goal came after only five minutes when Tobias Bech burst in between Owen Beck and Matt Baker and rifled his shot across Wales keeper Eddie Beach and into the net.

The hosts almost equalised from a corner five minutes later but Luke Harris’ header hit the top of the crossbar.

Charlie Savage then took aim from 20 yards and forced a fine diving save from Filip Jorgensen.

Wales pushed for a leveller after the break but the Danes doubled their lead in the 89th minute through Oliver Nielsen’s header.

Cian Ashford volleyed in a stoppage-time consolation with the last kick of the match after Jorgensen saved Rubin Colwill’s free-kick.

The result maintained Denmark’s perfect record in Group I, moving them onto eight points from four matches – level at the top with Wales, who have played a game more.

Six-shooters Flint Town United have booked their spot in the third round of the Welsh Youth Cup.

The Silkmen eased to a 6-1 success at home to Aberystwyth, spear-headed by two goals apiece from Harley Brindley-Peagram and Ben Hughes. Harvey Drazdauskas and Harry Cartwright also netted.

Captain Alex Leaney struck four times in Brickfield Rangers’ 9-1 triumph versus Garden Village.

Jay Richardson bagged a hat-trick and two assists, while Owain Price and Gethin Parry scored the others.

Connah’s Quay Nomads eased through via a 4-0 outcome at home to Treherbert.

Dylan Evans, Tyler Berry, Taylor Harris and Lewis Roberts found the target.

Airbus will travel to Pontypridd for their second round tie this Sunday.

Turning to the Flintshire U19 League Cup, Charlie Oliver Story, Alex Jones, James Davies and Caleb Jones all bagged braces in a 10-0 win for Caerwys over Mynydd Isa.

Joseph Drummond and Harry Strong added to the tally, while Oliver Roberts’ last gasp strike settled Buckley Town’s 1-0 win over Broughton United.

In the league, Coedpoeth United edged out Brickfield Rangers in a 5-4 thriller.

Adam Thomas (2), Joe Colley, Eryk Osinski and Tomos Williams sealed it for the visitors, with Jack Gibson (2), Leo Parker and Edward Pridding replying.

Luke Farron (3), Rhys Parry (2), Joshua Jones (2), Connor Parry, Daniel Evans and Ryan Evans guided Hawarden Development to a 10-0 triumph over battling FC Coedpoeth and Ewen Dennis struck twice in Llangollen Town’s 3-1 verdict versus Gronant.

Sam Antrobus also struck for Llan, as Dylan Taylor netted a consolation.

Wrexham just got the better of Connah’s Quay Nomads 3-2 in FAW Academy North U16s action.

Ben Connolly was amongst the scorers for Nomads.

Flint lost out 3-1 in their home clash with Caernarfon, but the U15s prevailed 2-1 during their trip to the Canaries.

Connor John scored one of Flint’s goals.

Ewan Kelly was one of the scorers in Wrexham U15s’ 3-0 triumph at Connah’s Quay Nomads and Stanley Edwards netted a late winner as Airbus got the better of Newtown 2-1.
