DON’T rule Mold Alex out in the race for this season’s league crown.

Mike Cunningham’s side moved to within five points of front-runners Holywell Town with a five-star showing at Gresford Athletic.

It’s been a tough month so far for Eddie Maurice-Jones’ Athletic, who are still searching for their first triumph in November and a first half red card to Charley Edge didn’t help matters.

Mold were well in control by that point, though, on their way to league victory number eight for the campaign. Haci Ozlu fired an early attempt wide for Gresford, before Sam Duffy got on the end of a terrific pass to hand the visitors a 10th minute lead.

A quarter-of-an-hour later and Jake Roberts blasted Mold further ahead, while Roberts bagged another to make it 3-0 after half-an-hour.

Gresford’s evening would go from bad to worse prior to the break as Edge kicked out at Henry Nash, which resulted in a straight red card.

Roberts was Mold’s star man and he completed his hat-trick after 63 minutes.

Athletic fought for a consolation, with Ozlu having an effort ruled out for offside, while Nathan Williams did pull one back a quarter-of-an-hour from time.

The final word went to Mold, though, with Nathan Mendoza tapping in after Danny Warren’s effort had struck the post.

Denbigh Town are level on 24 points with Mold following their 3-0 success at Denbghshire rivals Prestatyn Town.

All of the damage was done in the first half, with ex-Llay Welfare player Matthew Worrall (pictured left) netting twice and he was joined on the scoresheet by Ryan Kershaw. Prestatyn had Danny Atkins sent off.

Liam Ellis grabbed a 95th minute winner as Llandudno pipped Ruthin Town 2-1.
