IT’S going to be another huge occasion for Wrexham on Sunday.

The Reds played in front of a crowd of almost 10,000 when they defeated Connah’s Quay Nomads at the Racecourse back in the spring and this Sunday will see them tackle Swansea City in the Adran Premier’s match of the day. It will be played at the 21,000-capacity Swansea.com Stadium and Reds’ boss Steve Dale is looking forward to the tussle.

After last week’s Welsh Cup win over Llandudno, Dale told the club’s YouTube channel: “It’s going to be a really good occasion, obviously, with the venue we’re playing at.

“So, you know, it’s going to be really exciting to go down there and sort of give a good account of ourselves.

“But, you know, they’ll be chomping at the bit, really, to obviously try and put the first game of the season right.

“On a bit of a good run at the moment, so they’ll be coming into it and we know it’s going to be a tough game.

“So, we have to perform better than what we have done today, otherwise it’s going to be a difficult afternoon.”

It finished up 3-3 in a classic clash between the Reds and the Swans on the opening day.

Rebecca Pritchard, Rosie Hughes and Hannah Keryakoplis looked to have won it for the Reds, but Katy Hosford netted a stoppage time leveller.

Looking ahead, Louisha Doran said: “Obviously, last time we played them, it was a big game. We should have got three points, but obviously came away with a point. So, they’re going to be massively up for it, so we need to be as well.”
