JOHNNY HASELDIN praised a “professional performance” as unbeaten Holywell Town successfully stretched their advantage at the top of the table.

The Wellmen are now three points clear at the top following a hard-fought 2-0 triumph at Llanidloes Town.

In a post on X, Holywell boss Haseldin said: “Professional performance away from home.

“3 points. Clean sheet. Thanks to everyone who made the journey to cheer on the lads, I know the players appreciated it.”

Holywell will have been keen to make a fast start and this is how things turned out.

Just five minutes had elapsed when Jake Cooke rifled home the opener after a good pass from the returning Gareth Evans.

There were further chances as the half developed, but the Wellmen couldn’t find a way beyond home keeper Luke Evans.

Holywell continued to create chances in the second period and Llanidloes hopes of a fightback were effectively ended when Ryan Biggs was sent off.

A foul on Julian Williams handed the away side an 80th minute penalty, which was dispatched by Danny Sullivan.

Chirk AAA remain at the foot of the table following a 4-1 defeat at Llandudno.

It was anticipated this would be the first game of the season at Llandudno’s The OPS Wind Arena, however late developments meant the match had to be switched to Bala Town’s Maes Tegid ground.

In an ideal start for Chirk, Tristan Lloyd set up Max McLaughlin to net a fourth minute opener.

That was to be Chirk’s only bright spot, though, as Danny Holland equalised prior to the break, while second half strikes from Alex Boss, Harvey Bennett and Fabrizio Murtas won it for Llandudno.

Airbus were pipped 1-0 in their home meeting with The New Saints in the FAW Reserves North League.

James Nuttall grabbed the only goal after an hour.

William Weaver was on target for Buckley Town in their 4-1 defeat at Denbigh.

The hosts benefited from two goals apiece by Rhys Lloyd and Andy Thomas.

In the Tier 3 section, Rhos Aelwyd claimed a comfortable 4-0 home triumph over Llangollen Town.

Jack White struck twice in the first three minutes for Rhos, who also saw Iolo Hughes bag one of their efforts.

Hawarden Rangers were involved in a 4-4 thriller at league leaders Nantlle Vale.

Tom Gunson (2), Louis Anglesea and Connor Parry took Hawarden close, but Osian Williams’ late leveller salvaged a point for Vale, prior to Gunson being sent off in stoppage time.

Despite two efforts from Dion Gibbins, Cefn Albion were beaten 4-2 at Llangefni Town, while Llay Welfare suffered a 2-0 reverse at Llanrwst.

Elsewhere, St Asaph City got the better of Conwy Borough 3-1.
