TWO quickfire goals in the second half secured Wrexham a 2-0 win against League Two rivals Notts County at Meadow Lane.
Elliot Lee's strike, which appeared to take a deflection off Ben Tozer, put Phil Parkinson's side ahead in the 73rd minute and substitute Ollie Palmer quickly doubled the Reds' lead.
Wrexham, who pipped County to the National League title following a record-breaking 2022-23 campaign before the Magpies were also promoted to the EFL via the play-offs, are now unbeaten in eight matches in all competitions.
The Reds remain third in the table but on the same points as second placed County, five behind leaders Stockport County.
Parkinson made five changes from the side that started Tuesday's 2-1 home win against Sutton United.
Ryan Barnett and Eoghan O'Connell sustained injuries in the victory and missed out while Jordan Davies and Palmer dropped to the substitutes bench, with Jacob Mendy, Andy Cannon, Lee and Sam Dalby coming into the team.
It was only due to be four changes but Jordan Tunnicliffe was injured in the warm-up so Tozer came into the starting XI, joining George Evans and Tom O'Connor as the centre-backs.
Evans dropped back into defence with Cannon, back after serving a three-man ban, taking over from him as the holding midfielder.
An early David McGoldrick shot was saved by Reds' goalkeeper Arthur Okonkwo and the County striker also cleared the bar with another attempt.
At the other end, Dalby's effort was tipped over the bar by Sam Slocombe but the Magpies responded with McGoldrick seeing a low drive comfortably held by Okonkwo.
County had another good chance when Macauley Longstaff got on the end of Kyle Cameron's cross into the area but Okonkwo did well to gather his header.
Back come Wrexham and Lee's glancing header from Tozer long throw-in drifted wide and Mendy sent in a cross from the by-line that looped over Slocombe but Mullin was unable to turn the ball home at the back post.
Paul Mullin and County wing-back Jodi Jones were booked following an off-the-ball tussle while Slocombe got down low to save James Jones' drive and Wrexham came even closer in added time when Lee's header from Mullin's cross was clawed off the line by the County keeper.
The first half ended with County almost scoring when the ball ran to Jodi Jones who fired narrowly wide.
When the action resumed, Dalby's low shot was saved by Slocombe after he was picked out by Cannon while Okonkwo turned Jodi Jones' effort over the bar at the other end.
Wrexham weren't far away from breaking the deadlock when Lee's drive was tipped over the bar by Slocombe following a good move and the keeper also made a point-blank save to deny Dalby.
County responded with Cameron's long-range shot which was well held by Okonkwo and Langstaff fired wide, but Wrexham took a 1-0 lead in the 73th minute.
Lee got away from Matt Palmer with his shot deflecting off Tozer and beating Slocombe.
County immediately countered and Okonkwo made a brilliant save to deny McGoldrick but Wrexham doubled their advantage after 76 minutes.
Okonkwo's clearance found Mullin who played in Palmer and the striker found the back of the net.
McGoldrick brought an easy save out of Okonkwo and Wrexham held on for a big win.
