WREXHAM again left it late as Elliot Lee's 89th minute goal secured a 2-1 win against Sutton United and took the Reds up to third in League Two.
Phil Parkinson's men dominated the first half at The Racecourse and took the lead through Paul Mullin who scored his fourth goal of the season with a brilliant strike.
Despite being in control, the Reds' allowed Sutton to come back into the contest and the bottom of the table U's equalised just before the hour mark.
It looked like ending in a draw but playmaker Lee came off the bench and grabbed his ninth goal of the campaign to secure victory which extended the unbeaten run to seven games in all competitions.
It was far from convincing as Wrexham failed to build on that brilliant start but the Reds got there in the end and remain five points behind leaders Stockport County.
Parkinson made two changes from the side that started Saturday's hard-fought 1-1 draw away at Bradford.
Jordan Davies came into the midfield for his first league start of the season, taking over from leading scorer Lee, and Ollie Palmer replaced Steven Fletcher in the Reds' attack.
With Ben Tozer and Luke Young named among the substitutes, star striker Mullin continued to captain the side.
Following a quiet start to the game, it was Mullin who had Wrexham's first sight of goal but he headed over from James McClean's corner.
But Wrexham took the lead in the 14th minute.
James Jones fed Mullin who took a touch before firing past Sutton goalkeeper Dean Bouzanis from 25 yards.
It was a fantastic strike by the frontman and there was soon another chance when Tom O'Connor picked out Davies who headed over the bar.
Parkinson was forced into a change on the half-hour mark when Eoghan O'Connell limped off injured and had to be replaced in the heart of defence by Tozer.
Despite enjoying the majority of possession as Sutton chose to sit in and try to counter, the Reds failed to turn it into chances.
There was a first opportunity of the game for Sutton when Aiden O'Brien's low drive fell just wide but Wrexham were quickly back on the attack.
Mullin sent in a low cross from the by-line but Palmer was unable to steer his effort on target.
Ryan Barnett saw his long range shot parried by Bouzanis and when the ball was put back into the area, Palmer was thwarted by the U's goalkeeper who did well to keep out the striker's header.
Omar Sowunmi volleyed wide for Sutton at the start of the second half and the U's, who had come out fired up, equalised in the 59th minute.
Harry Smith delivered the ball across goal and O'Brien converted from close range.
Barnett limped off and had to be replaced by Jacob Mendy as Wrexham lost another player to injury and Parkinson made a treble change on 72 minutes with Lee, Sam Dalby and Fletcher coming on for Jones, Tom O'Connor and Palmer.
Mendy got into some good positions and his audacious dipping shot from long range clipped the top of the crossbar.
Wrexham put the pressure on as the game reached the latter stageds and the Reds made it 2-1 with one minute remaining.
A cross was cleared to Lee who scored with a 20-yard screamer that gave Bouzanis no chance and turned out to be the winner.
