WREXHAM produced another superb comeback, coming from two-nil down to beat Salford City 3-2 at The STóK Cae Ras.
After Salford struck twice, leading scorer Elliot Lee bagged his eighth goal in 13 League Two games to give the Reds hope at the break.
Time was running out for Wrexham in the second half but substitutes Stephen Fletcher and Jordan Davies scored late on to secure victory for Phil Parkinson's men.
Having given squad players some much needed game-time in the 3-0 EFL Trophy win at Crewe Alexandra in midweek, when Wrexham progressed into the knockout stages, Parkinson welcomed back his regulars for the visit of Salford.
There was one change from the side that started the last league game - a 1-0 win at Crawley the previous Saturday - with 18-year-old Aaron James coming in at right wing-back for his league debut, taking over from the injured Jacob Mendy.
Ryan Barnett (suspended) and Anthony Forde (injured) have also played in the position this season but were missing along with Mendy who had been filling in so James, who has come through the youth ranks at The STóK Cae Ras and signed a new contract in the summer, got his big chance.
Neither side created anything in the opening exchanges but Salford took the lead with the first chance of the game in the 15th minute.
Stephen Mallan sent in a cross from the left and Matt Smith found the back of the net with a header.
There was an opportunity for Wrexham to equalise not long after when Paul Mullin - captain in the absence of Ben Tozer and Luke Young - shrugged off Adrian Mariappa when he latched onto a ball over the top and was one-on-one with goalkeeper Alex Cairns but the striker fired over the bar.
James Jones was too high with another effort but Salford went 2-0 up in the 36th minute.
Wrexham were caught out down the right, Declan John advanced into the area and saw his shot parried by Reds' keeper Arthur Okonkwo but Matthew Lund scored with the follow-up.
However, the Reds reduced the deficit three minutes later.
James McClean sent in a corner and Lee headed home at the back post.
Buoyed by the goal, Wrexham continued to go at Salford and Ollie Palmer opted to try his luck instead of passing to a team-mate but his low drive fell wide.
There was a good chance for Salford early in the second half but Mallan fired wide from Luke Bolton's pull-back.
Back came Wrexham and Aaron Hayden's header from Mullin's looping cross was turned away by Cairns and Mullin failed to hit the target with a header of his own.
Substitute Jordan Davies had a header blocked on the line from McClean's cross and the chances kept coming.
Mullin picked out Steven Fletcher who was denied by Cairns, the ball was played back into the danger-zone by McClean and Davies headed wide.
Davies went close again but Wrexham levelled on 88 minutes.
Nice interplay ended with Sam Dalby picking out Fletcher who converted from close range.
Just one minute later it got even better as Wrexham went 3-2 up.
A cross reached Davies at the back post and the midfielder fired home.
Okonkwo pulled off a brilliant save to keep out Smith's header and that made sure Wrexham won.
