CONNAH’S QUAY NOMADS will be aiming to spring a Welsh Cup shock away to top flight opposition on Sunday.

In one of the ties of the round, Jordan Parry’s unbeaten Cymru North leaders will head to Adran Premier League The New Saints.

Nomads’ player Aimee Redfern says it’s vital the players keep their focus for the tie, following a 100 per cent winning start to the season.

She told the club’s X site: “I think we just need to keep out heads. We need to be focused, you know, take every game as it comes.

“We’ve got our game principals. We stick to them.

“We work hard for each other, keep the ball on the deck.

“We play our game. Every game’s going to be tough and we don’t look at any game like it’s harder.

“Whether it’s Rhyl, whether it’s NFA, or whether it’s TNS, we’ll look at them like they’re all one and we just go into them with the right mindset and we work hard as a team.”

Top flight Wrexham will be favourites to progress at Pwllheli.

However, Reds’ boss Steve Dale is taking nothing for granted ahead of the trip to the North West Wales League outfit.

Dale told the club’s YouTube channel: “It’s going to be a tough game.

“Obviously, we’ve had a run-in with Pwllheli in the league a couple of seasons back.

“You know, you’ve got to give them a lot of credit with the way that they set themselves up at home.

“They’re hard to beat, they’re difficult to break down.

“So, it’s going to give us a few problems on the day, so we’ve got to make sure that the girls aren’t taking that opposition lightly.

“It’s important that we go on a good cup run this year.”

Wrexham’s unbeaten start to the season ended with last weekend’s 3-0 loss to defending champions Cardiff City and Dale stressed it was important for the players to carry on looking forward.

“I said to the girls there’s no point sulking about it now,” he said.

“It’s happened. It’s just moving on now and continuing and preparing for the next game.”

Top flight duo Cardiff Met and Swansea City will meet in one of the main ties this Sunday.

Other selected ties: Llanfair Utd v Aberystwyth; Bangor v Y Felinheli; NFA v Llandudno; Rhyl 1879 v Llangefni; Pontypridd v Penclawdd; Llanelli v Cardiff City; Swansea Uni v Barry.

In the North East Wales League, leaders Flint Town United will be looking to preserve their unbeaten record at Bellevue. Second-placed Northop Hall play host to Welshpool, while Berriew travel to Denbigh Town.

In this evening’s Adran U19s’ North League action, Airbus travel to The New Saints.
