WREXHAM'S squad list has been submitted to the EFL and the transfer window is closed but Will Boyle says there can be no slacking if players want to keep their place in the team.
Clubs in League Two are limited to a 22-man squad, although that number does not include goalkeepers or players who were under the age of 21 - such as centre-back Max Cleworth - at the start of the calendar year.
Phil Parkinson has chosen his list of outfield players aged over-21 for the period up January 1 and with no shortage of bodies to select from, Bryce Hosannah, Callum McFadzean and Billy Waters were left out of the Reds' manager's plans.
Summer signing Boyle, brought in from Championship outfit Huddersfield Town, has started the last six league games after missing the 5-3 opening day defeat to MK Dons through injury and the 28-year-old's place was never in doubt.
But with lots of competition in the centre-back department, Boyle won't rest on his laurels and knows he must keep performing to remain in the side.
"Everyone knows what's what now with the squad," said Boyle, who will again line-up in defence when seventh placed Wrexham, unbeaten in six league games, face Grimsby Town at The STóK Car Ras tomorrow.
"I am just looking forward to cracking on and enjoying it.
"We have got strength in depth in abundance and that is good.
"I know it's a cliche but it's true - competition is healthy.
"If you know there is somebody chomping at the bit to take your shirt then you know you have got to be at it.
"Personally, I have got the mentality that I know I have got to be at it."
Wrexham continued the unbeaten with last Saturday's 2-1 home win against Doncaster Rovers.
Soaring temperatures made it tough going but Ellliot Lee struck with two minutes remaining and Boyle was pleased to pick-up three points despite the Reds not being at their best.
"It was a warm one but we came away with three points which makes it all worth it," he added.
"In my opinion, it was one of our worst performances but to come away with a result is a massive positive.
"We managed to produce the moment of quality that mattered in the end."
