TRANMERE boss Ian Dawes says he will not be distracted by the media attention surrounding Wrexham as Rovers prepare for Saturday's game with their old rivals.
Film star Ryan Reynolds bought Wrexham AFC with It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia actor Rob McElhenney in 2020.
Following their purchase of the club, the actors launched a docuseries called Welcome To Wrexham, which was released in 2022.
Last season, the club managed to win the National League title with 111 points.
This won Wrexham promotion to the Football League and into football’s fourth tier for the first time since 2008 where they will renew their rivalry for Saturday's early kick off.
The new series of Welcome To Wrexham will premiere on September 13 on Disney+ in the UK so could Tranmere spoil the party for Reynolds and McElhenney?
"I've watched a few of their games and they've got some good players and they're a good team," said Dawes, whose side have won just one of their first five league games this season.
"I feel like we can go and attack this game and get three points and get the crowd going because it's going to be an unbelievable atmosphere and the players have got to use that energy."
The Welshmen have are on an unbeaten run of six games, but only one of those was a win and despite scoring 14 times they've conceded the same number.
Dawes said: "Wrexham have their threats but they have their weaknesses as well as the league table says but it's a strong league this season and every game is slightly different and we've got to make sure we come out on top.
"We look at it as just another opponent and you look at your opponent in the same way - you manage their threats and expose their weaknessess and with the players we've got we can do both.
"When you speak to a lot of people in football about Wrexham they say because of the hype and everything around them they do not want them to succeed. My own thing is I don't listen to it at all - I don't look at the social media side and I don't look at the TV side of it and for me it's just another opponent and I've got to approach the game calmly and make sure my emotions aren't in control of it. I don't really care what they do on or off the pitch - it's about what we do."
