WREXHAM co-owner Rob McElhenney says it’s up to boss Phil Parkinson when it comes to making signings.

Parkinson, who will lead Wrexham back into the Football League a week on Saturday at home to MK Dons, has convinced former England keeper Ben Foster to come out of retirement while defender Wil Boyle has ditched the Championship to move to Wrexham.

The Reds, who complete their two-week pre-season tour of America against McElhenney’s home-town team Philadelphia Union tomorrow, may be in the market for another striker after star man Paul Mullin - the club’s top scorer for the past two seasons - punctured a lung this week and will miss the start of the season.

Transfer gossip has linked Barnsley striker James Norwood - a close friend of Mullin’s - with a Racecourse move but when asked pitchside in San Diego by Sky Sports if the club was signing any more players, McElhenney replied: “We just keep checking in with Phil. Phil seems to be pretty happy with the squad we’ve got and we believe in Phil.”

Meanwhile Manchester United goalkeeper Nathan Bishop has issued a public apology to Mullin after his erratic charge caused Mullin to be taken to hospital in America.

League Two side Wrexham beat Premier League opponents United 3-1 at the Snapdragon Stadium on Wednesday morning.

The incident left Mullin writhing around on the floor in agony and needing an oxygen mask.

Taking to Twitter, Bishop wrote: “Just wanted to share my sincerest apologies to @PMullin7. A complete misjudgement and a genuine accident with 0 malicious intent at all! Wishing you the speediest recovery and hope to see you back scoring goals as soon as possible!”

Mullin was taken to the UC San Diego Health Hospital, where he posted a selfie to his Instagram story from his hospital bed to tell fans he was ‘all good’.

He later Tweeted to say that he had been discharged from the hospital and that it was time to rest and recover.

It is as yet unknown how long Mullin will be out of action for but he will definitely miss the Reds’ big return to the Football League a week on Saturday at home to MK Dons.
