WREXHAM will face Port Vale, Crewe Alexandra and one Under-21 team in the EFL Trophy group stage next season.

The Reds have been placed in Northern Section Group B, with the three EFL clubs in each group pre-determined with consideration given to ensure travel time is minimised and recovery time maximised for players.

Phil Parkinson's men will discover the third opponent tomorrow (Thursday June 22) when the draw takes place live on Sky Sports at 11:30am.

All EFL clubs will play two of their three matches at home in the group stages, with U21 teams away from home in all three fixtures.

Wrexham won the competition when it was known as the LDV Vans Trophy in 2005, beating Southend United 2-0 at The Millennium Stadium, Cardiff.

Meanwhile, Wrexham will be ball number 38 in the northern section of tomorrow’s (Thursday June 22) Carabao Cup draw.

The first round draw will take place live on Sky Sports at 2.30pm, with matches scheduled to take place in the week commencing August 7.

Wrexham are taking part in the Carabao Cup - also known as the League Cup - for the first time since the 2007-8 season and a total of 36 fixtures will be drawn for the opening round, with all 72 EFL clubs in the hat.

The 12 Premier League clubs not competing in Europe enter the competition in round two, with the other eight Premier League clubs starting in the third round.

Both cup draws will follow the EFL fixture announcement at 9am.
