NORTHOP Hall will be aiming to make it back-to-back triumphs in the Liverpool Competition tomorrow.

Hall broke their Division Two duck for the campaign courtesy of a comfortable success versus Irby last time out and next up is a trip to mid-table Norley Hall.

Reflecting on a first win of the campaign, Northop Hall skipper Carwyn Johnson said: "We started really well.

"Alex Smith and Tom Doggett put on about 80-odd without loss, but then we had a bit of a mini collapse.

"But the lads down the order brought it back."

Ben Slater finished up unbeaten on 41, while efforts from Johnson (26 not out) and Will Edwards (22 not out) allowed Hall to declare on 194 for six.

Not for the first time this season, Ankur Malik then took the main plaudits with the ball as he finished up with a five for 56 return when Irby were dismissed for 143.

Looking ahead to tomorrow's clash with Norley Hall, Johnson said: "I have never played against them myself.

"We are going into it with the same mindset and focus on ourselves.

"We have had a good week in training."

One area to focus on is the middle portion of the innings when Northop Hall bat.

"I think towards the middle overs is somewhere we need to focus on a bit more," added Johnson.

"It's definitely a point we need to work on.

"We have had a few collapses so far."

There are home comforts in store for Northop Hall seconds tomorrow as they welcome Liverpool seconds.

Chirk have withstood a major injury crisis ahead of tomorrow's Shropshire League outing to Newtown.

Despite suffering varying injuries, skipper Luke Gardner, Nick Flack and Ollie Gough all turned out for last weekend's narrow one-wicket loss to Frankton.

Despite having a quad injury, Gough was the top scorer with his knock of 32 at the top of the order, while Gardner and Flack came in at numbers 10 and 11.

Gardner was able to send down five overs during the second portion of the afternoon, when Mark Shaw and Jonathan Phillips both picked up four wickets.

In Division Eight, Chirk seconds will play host to Quayside.
