LUKE YOUNG says champions Wrexham won't be going through the motions when they face lowly Torquay United at Plainmoor in their final fixture of the 15-year non-league era tomorrow.
Phil Parkinson's men clinched the National League title last Saturday with a 3-1 home win against Boreham Wood and there will be a party atmosphere in Devon tomorrow.
Wrexham are back in the Football League for the first time since 2008 and while automatic promotion is already in the bag, captain Young says the players will still be giving their all as the Reds aim to complete a record-breaking campaign with another victory.
"Don't get me wrong, we have enjoyed these last few days," said Young, referring to the players being given extra time off this week by Parkinson to celebrate their title success.
"We are still professional footballers, we are still professional people and we have still got a job to do at the weekend.
"Not just for ourselves but for the whole league, it is results-dependant. It is not a case of going out there and taking our foot off the gas.
"We are going to Torquay to enjoy it but enjoy it for the right reasons, and carry on doing what we've been doing the whole season.
"Try to end the season on a high and end it in style."
Parkinson might decide to make some changes for the final-day showdown against the Gulls, who are staring relegation in the face, which kicks off at 5.30pm.
But Young says whoever is selected will be focussed on the job in hand.
"We are not taking it lightly and I imagine that the gaffer will play as strong a side that he feels he needs to," added the midfielder.
"I don't imagine there will be too many changes because that is the type of manager he is.
"He wants to win games of football and we have been relentless all year.
"Obviously this game is not going to ruin our season but we want to keep those high standards that we have set all year and whatever side the gaffer decides to put out, go there and give it a good go and try to win the game."
