Wrexham have been promoted to the Football League following a 15-year absence and a win over Boreham Wood today (April 22).

Paul Mullin’s brace contributed to the 3-1 win as he took his goal tally for the season to 47.

Wrexham’s co-owners, the Hollywood actors Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, were present at the match to see the triumph.

Boreham Wood didn’t mess around with their goal coming in the first minute from Lee Ndlovu.

Wrexham were able to equalise with a goal from Elliot Lee before Mullin bagged two goals in the second half.

Reynolds and McElhenney were joined by fellow Hollywood star Paul Rudd in their executive seating area as they celebrated the confirmation of Wrexham’s title and promotion.

This meant that despite Notts County securing a 5-2 victory at Maidstone earlier today, they are out of the title race which could have continued until next weekend if Wrexham hadn’t secured the win today.

The game fell on the 45th anniversary of Wrexham’s promotion to the second-tier of English football when Mickey Thomas and company routed Rotherham 7-1 at a delirious Racecourse Ground.

It was expected to be a lot tougher for Wrexham today with Boreham Wood boasting a strong defence, having conceded only 35 goals in 43 games.

Boreham Wood were also amongst the play-off mix as they started the game against Wrexham in 7th place.
