PAUL MULLIN would love international recognition with Wales but the in-form Wrexham striker doesn't expect to receive a call-up.
The 28-year-old is eligible for Wales through his grandmother and was tipped for a potential call-up to the squad for last month's opening Euro 2024 qualifiers against Croatia and Latvia.
Although manager Rob Page has heaped praise on Mullin, the frontman was left out of the squad as Wales drew 1-1 with World Cup semi-finalists Croatia beating Latvia 1-0 in Cardiff to make a superb start to their campaign.
Mullin has been in fantastic form since joining Wrexham from Cambridge United, finishing leading scorer with 32 goals in 2021-22 to scoop the Player of the Season award as well as the National League’s golden boot and Player of the Season gong.
There has been no let-up this term from Mullin who took his tally for the campaign to 43 goals with a hat-trick in Saturday's emphatic 5-1 home win against Oldham Athletic which keeps Phil Parkinson's men in pole position in the race for automatic promotion.
Mullin was asked about his international prospects and although he doesn't think he will get the call from Page, he admits it would be the "biggest achievement" of his career if he was selected.
“It’s not something I think about and it’s not something I expect to happen," said Mullin, who won the League Two golden boot after scoring 32 goals to help Cambridge clinch promotion before signing for Wrexham in the summer of 2021.
“Obviously it would be lovely if it did happen but it’s not something I expect, it’s not something I think will happen.
“But you never know in football.
“All I can do is go and play football and enjoy it, score as many goals as I can and win as many games as I can.
“If I do get called up, obviously it would be an unbelievable achievement and I would be over the moon.
“It would be the biggest achievement of my life but I don’t expect it to come, although I would love it to come."
