WREXHAM'S leading scorer Paul Mullin eclipsed last season's tally as Wrexham won 4-3 against Aldershot Town at The Recreation Ground.
Mullin was claiming a first half hat-trick but the third goal has not been awarded to the Reds' striker.
However, Mullin's brace took his account for the campaign to 33 and beats the 32 goals he scored during 2021-22 as Wrexahm clinched a sixth successive National League away victory.
But the Reds made hard work of it as despite leading 1-0, 2-0 and 3-1, Phil Parkinson's men were pegged back by the mid-table Shots who equalised at 3-3 one minute from time.
However Wrexham scored the winner deep into added time and they remain second in the table, five points behind title rivals Notts County with two games in hand.
Parkinson made two changes from the side that started the 2-2 draw with Woking four days earlier.
Centre-back Max Cleworth replaced Harry Lennon and James Jones came into the midfield for Andy Cannon who was named among the substitutes.
There was also a surprise place on the bench for defender Jordan Tunnicliffe who sustained an ankle injury in the 3-3 draw against Sheffield United in the FA Cup fourth round clash three weeks ago and was back for selection earlier than expected.
Wrexham made the ideal start by taking the lead after just seven minutes.
Anthony Forde fed Ollie Palmer who pulled the ball back to Elliot Lee and his shot struck the hand of Haji Mnoga in the area.
Referee Sam Mulhall had no hesitation in pointing to the spot and Mullin's penalty had too much power, finding the back of the net despite the best efforts of keeper Luca Asbhy-Hammond.
Jake Hutchinson headed wide from Justin Amaluzor's centre at the other end but Wrexham then won their first corner of the game and when the danger wasn't cleared, Cleworth's header from Ben Tozer's cross was saved by Asbhy-Hammond.
Hutchinson netted for Aldershot but the ball went out of play before the cross came in and the goal was disallowed.
However, Wrexham went upfield and made it 2-0 in the 23rd minute.
Eoghan O'Connell found Lee who can forward and laid off to Forde and his cross was slotted home by Mullin.
But Aldershot pulled a goal back on the half-hour mark.
Amaluzor's cross from the by-line found Oliver Pendlebury who fired home.
It was a minor set-back as Wrexham restored their two-goal lead on 35 minutes.
Jones found Mullin who ran at goal and his cheeky back-heel went in off defender Corey Jordan.
The goals continued to flow with Aldershot pulling it back to 3-2 in the 39th minute.
Hutchinson raced onto a ball over the top and slotted past Reds' goalkeeper Mark Howard.
Jacob Mendy's injury-time lob fell wide of the target while Shots striker Glover had a shot saved by Howard at the start of the second half.
Amaluzor came even closer for the home side as he only just cleared the bar and with Wrexham being put under more pressure, Jordan only just cleared the bar with a header.
Wrexham responded with some good chances of their own.
Mullin was put through on goal by Palmer but denied by Ashby-Hammon while Tunnicliffe, who replaced O'Connell for the start of the second half, headed over from Luke Young's corner.
Mullin also fired over from inside the area and Lee's header was only just too high before the midfielder's low drive was parried by Ashby-Hammon.
But Aldershot equalised one minute from time.
A cross from the left struck Tunnicliffe and beat Howard.
However, Wrexham made it 4-3 deep into added time.
Young sent in a corner which was headed home by sub Sam Dalby to clinch three points.
