THEY weren't at their best but Wrexham beat Bromley 2-1 to maintain their 100 per cent record at The Racecourse this season.
Manager Phil Parkinson didn't want it to be a case of after the Lord Mayor's show having seen Wrexham cause a huge FA Cup upset when they beat Championship outfit Coventry City 4-3 in Saturday's third round tie.
The Reds had put a lot into that game so it was not surprising that they struggled to get going against play-off hopefuls Bromley and were sloppy.
But after going behind, there was an improvement and Paul Mullin converted a penalty to notch his 25th goal of the season just before the break.
Wrexham came out for the second half fired up and they were much better, securing victory when substitute James Jones netted not long after his introduction.
The win ensured second placed Wrexham kept the pressure on leaders Notts County in the race for the National League title and extended the unbeaten run to 19 games in all competitions.
Parkinson made three changes from the side that started the cup win at Coventry three days earlier.
Right wing-back Anthony Forde returned in place of Reece Hall-Johnson and Aaron Hayden, who had a niggle and wasn't risked against the Sky Blues, came back into the centre of defence for Max Cleworth who was among the substitutes
The final change was in attack where Ollie Palmer was preferred to Sam Dalby who opened the scoring at The CBS Arena but was back on the bench.
Wrexham enjoyed a lot of possession in the early exchanges without creating anything and Bromley had the first chance in the 10th minute with Louis Dennis' low drive turned behind by Reds' keeper Mark Howard.
Corey Whitley's long range effort was straight at Howard and after Wrexham countered, Palmer's low drive was only just beyond Mullin who made a run into the six yard box.
The Reds hadn't got into their stride but finally had a sight of goal after 22 minutes.
Ben Tozer's long throw-in wasn't cleared and Palmer fired over the crossbar.
Tom O'Connor also shot wide but too many passes were going astray for Wrexham who were wasteful and Bromley took the lead on 33 minutes.
Dennis managed to sent in a cross from the by-line and it was turned home by Whitely.
A good move by Wrexham ended with Elliot Lee's cross-shot which was too high when he could have picked out Mullin instead, while Hayden's header from Tozer's throw-in was tipped over by goalkeeper Reice Charles-Cook.
However, the Reds levelled in the 45th minute.
A corner caused havoc in the area and Jordan Tunnicliffe was kicked in the head by Michael Cheek.
Mullin made no mistake from the spot as he smashed home the resulting penalty.
Wrexham went straight at Bromley when the second half kicked off Mullin could not keep his shot down from Anthony Forde's cross.
Palmer's cross was parried but no-one was there to pick up loose ball, and Wrexham went 2-1 up after 73 minutes.
A cross was cleared to substitute Jones who had only just come on and his shot found the net via a deflection.
The Reds had more chances with substitute Dalby seeing his effort parried by Charles-Cook who also denied Palmer in added time, but Wrexham got the win they needed.
