PHIL PARKINSON welcomed his side’s FA Cup draw but the second tie with Farnborough couldn’t be further from his mind.

Wrexham’s reward for defeating Oldham Athletic 3-0 at The Racecourse in Sunday’s first round encounter is another home tie against National League South outfit Boro, who caused an upset by beating League Two Sutton 2-0, with the game due to be played on the weekend of Saturday November 26.

The second placed Reds have three National League games before the cup tie, starting with tonight’s trip to Scunthorpe United, and Parkinson is focussed on the promotion challenge.

“We had to work hard against Blyth, they were a decent side, and we were excellent against Oldham,” said the Reds’ boss.

“We are pleased to progress, the aim on Sunday was to get into the next round and then you always hope the draw is kind to you which it was.

“We can’t complain at all. We wanted a home tie and we have got to be pleased with the draw.

“Equally, we know Farnborough had an outstanding win at Sutton; by all accounts, they deserved the win so we know it is going to be a tough game.

“Now we put the FA Cup to the back of our minds and concentrate on the league.

“It’s important that the excitement away from the league, we address that when the game comes around.”
