A QUARTET of North East Wales judo players have made their mark on the national stage.
For the first time in three years. the British National Masters Championships were held in Surrey, with Judoka from around the country competing.
Julian Pae, Andy Lloyd, Steve Evans and Mark Creegan, of Mold Judo Club, competed at the event and they demonstrated a tremendous display of athleticism and judo skill to bring home three medals between them.
First up under-100kg player and 3rd Dan Andy Lloyd endured some gruelling fights and fierce competition.
Winning his final fight of the day, that was enough to secure the bronze medal.
Julian Pae and Steven Evans ended up in a split pool in the under 90kg section, which was packed with talent.
Pae won two fights and lost in the semi-finals, however a bronze medal was a great reward.
Evans battled on to the final, where he met a prior opponent from the day's competition, who he had previous beat.
Determined for revenge, that player caught Steve with a solid throw and the Mold club member had to be satisfied with silver.
Under-81kg player Mark Creegan had some really tough competition and despite a gallant effort and some brilliant judo, he just missed out on place on the podium.
The three medallists have secured a spot on the 2022 GB Masters squad.
