BEN TOZER says Wrexham must embrace being top of the table and relish being the team to be shot at.
Saturday's 2-1 win at Oldham Athletic extended the unbeaten run to eight games and took Phil Parkinson' side to the National League summit for the first time this season.
The Reds hold a two point lead over Notts County - tonight's opponents at Meadow Lane - and Chesterfield.
There is still a long way to go in the race for automatic promotion and Tozer is looking forward to the challenge of trying to hold onto top spot.
"There are loads of challenges throughout the season and you have to grab it with both hands," said Tozer.
"People can say you don't want to be top this early but why not?
"Grab the challenge with both hands and see where it takes you.
"It should never affect the way that you play anyway so let's just keep enjoying it.
"There are going to be many bumps in the road as they say, just take the challenge and ride with it."
Wrexham's first game as leaders is a top of the table showdown with the Magpies.
"It's always a tough place to go," said Tozer. "I have never had an easy game at Notts County.
"You can't be surprised when they come out of the traps and play the way they play their football.
"We have just got to keep doing the right things, day in, day out, and get ready to go again."
Parkinson, who saw Wrexham come from behind to win at Oldham with top scorer Paul Mullin converting a last-gasp penalty to secure three points, says his side will be raring to go.
"Every game is tough, every game represents a different challenge," said Parkinson.
"Notts County are a good team but enjoy the feeling of beating Oldham, it is another three points on the journey of where we want to go and we will be ready for Tuesday."
Parkinson has to decide whether to hand a start to playmaker Elliot Lee who once again made a big impact when he came off the substitutes bench at Boundary Park, setting up Ben Tozer's equaliser.
"Elliot has been great and he just gave us a lift," added the Reds' boss.
"Sometimes it is not just a lift of energy, it is a lift of quality and he certainly gave us that."
