LEE FOWLER believes Flint Town United are winners anyway - regardless of whether he scoops the Cymru Premier League manager of the month award.

Former Wrexham midfielder Fowler has been shortlisted for August’s gong after the Silkmen picked up three wins from four outings.

There have been massive changes at The Essity Stadium since Fowler was appointed manager in the summer and he feels the club is heading in the right direction - award or no award.

“This is not for me. I know how hard everyone at the club has worked in the short time I have been here so just to be shortlisted,” said Fowler.

“We only had one player, no pitch and nowhere to train so we are winning anyway.”

Flint will play their first game on the Essity Stadium’s new state-of-the-art 4G pitch tomorrow against Bala after last week’s home match against Aberystwyth was cancelled.

“Without doubt it is the best 4G pitch I have seen,” said Fowler.

“It is not like the older, outdated pitches, it is new technology underneath it and it plays and looks better.”

Flint, who started September with a 1-0 defeat at Cardiff Met, go into the game sitting fourth in the table with nine points from a possible 15.

Seventh-placed Bala have not taken as many points as they would have liked but although Fowler is expecting a difficult game, he still feels Flint can win.

“We are under no illusion how tough it will be,” he added.

“Bala have not started as well as they would have liked but they are a team that plays in Europe.

“Every game we play we believe we can win, including TNS, regardless of finances. It is 11 v 11.”

Caernarfon Town, who are only one place ahead of Flint in the top-three on goal difference, have home advantage over Haverfordwest County.

Huw Griffiths’ Canaries are the joint-top scorers in the league alongside Cardiff Met.

In tomorrow’s other game, Newtown have home advantage over Penybont.
