WREXHAM are starting to fire but manager Phil Parkinson refuses to get carried away.
The Reds saw off Dorking Wanderers 5-0 at Meadowbank Stadium in the first ever meeting between the sides to register a fourth win in a row, scoring 16 goals in the process.
Having taken 16 points from a possible 21 - losing just once at early leaders Chesterfield - promotion favourites Wrexham are second in the National League but Parkinson is keeping his feet on the ground.
"It took us a couple of games to really get in our stride but we still picked up results and that is important," said Parkinson. "It was only really the Chesterfield game where we were disappointed.
"It is just a progression from where we have been going.
"We were absolutely clinical when we got in that final third today and in reality, on the break in the second half, we could have scored more but we will take the five.
"Five goals away from home, I don't think you can argue with that.
"We are top scorers in the division but we are not getting carried away.
"It is a long old season and we will go again next Saturday."
One player not involved at Dorking was striker Dior Angus who has left The Racecourse and joined League Two side Harrogate Town on a free transfer.
The 28-year-old arrived from Barrow in February 2021 and bagged six goals in the second half of the 2020-21 campaign as Wrexham just missed out on the National League play-offs, and he made 17 appearances in all competitions last season, scoring once in the 2-2 draw at Southend 12 months ago.
Not named in a matchday squad by Wrexham boss Phil Parkinson for the opening six games of the current season, Angus heads to Harrogate who are 19th in League Two.
Parkinson said: “Myself and the coaching staff would like to wish Dior all the best moving forward and thank him for his contribution while here at the club.”
