BEN TOZER believes Wrexham have got "a point to prove" when they face Woking tomorrow following last season's disappointing defeat at The Kingfield.
Phil Parkinson's side found some form in the second half of 2021-22 and were challenging for the title when they took on the Cards in April's fixture.
Having seen leaders Stockport lose earlier in the day, Wrexham took the lead but Woking scored twice after the break to win 2-1 and end the Reds' 15-game unbeaten run.
The teams lock horns once again in front of the live television cameras, with kick-off at 5.20pm, and Tozer wants to make amends for that defeat.
"We have got a bit of a point to prove from when we went there last season and the manner of the defeat we had," said the centre-back.
"It is one of them where you want to go back and stamp your authority, do the right things and come away with the three points.
"It is always good to have them reminders and do what you have got to do to win a game.
"Sometimes in that game, we were caught in between playing or not playing so we need to get everyone on the same page for Saturday.
"Woking are a good team and they have made some good signings as well so it won't be easy. It is a tough place to go.
"I am looking forward to it and hopefully getting back on the coach with three points."
Wrexham go into the game on the back of a 5-0 victory against Maidstone United at The Racecourse last Saturday
The Reds could have won by a bigger margin after creating a host of chances in a game they dominated and Tozer wants to build on the impressive performance and result.
"It is encouraging to score five goals and we missed three one-on-ones as well," said Tozer.
"It is good to create so many chances and great to have such a big win at home.
"We have got to try and back it up and have the same sort of performance with a clean sheet which is what we want at the back."
Tozer was understandably pleased to keep a first clean sheet of the season in the Reds' fourth outing.
"Us defenders would rather win a game 1-0, the strikers would rather win a game 3-1 or 4-1," he said.
"It was nice to get the first clean sheet, we have set the standard now and hopefully we keep many more."
Wrexham have taken seven points from a possible 12 to sit fifth in the table and Tozer added: "It could have been better and it could have been worse.
"You always want more and you always want better so from that point of view, we could have had a better start.
"You can only beat what is in front of you, we beat Maidstone and now we have got to try and beat Woking."
