PHIL PARKINSON decided to freshen up his side against Chesterfield on Tuesday night and give players who featured in the extreme heat at Yeovil a breather.
Parkinson made four changes from the team that was held to a 1-1 at Huish Park, where temperatures reached around 35 degrees, for the clash against the Spireites who won 2-0 after Wrexham produced a woeful performance.
The Reds' boss elected to alter both wing-backs at The Technique Stadium as Bryce Hosannah took over from Anthony Forde on the right and Callum McFadzean came in for Jacob Mendy on the opposite flank.
The other two changes were in midfield with Tom O'Connor, absent against the Glovers after sustaining a groin injury in the 2-1 win over Eastleigh on the opening day, and James Jones returning in place of captain Luke Young and Jordan Davies.
Davies and Mendy were named on the substitutes bench and appeared in the second half, but there was no place in the matchday squad for Young and Forde.
Wrexham struggled defensively against Chesterfield and never had a shot on target as they suffered a first National League defeat of the season.
On the changes, Parkinson said: "Saturday was a tough game in terms of the conditions.
"First of all I wanted to freshen up the wing-back position and secondly in the centre of midfield.
"The high energy positions and we have got good players for us to be able to do that."
