WREXHAM still haven't started a season in non-league with two successive wins after drawing 1-1 with Yeovil Town at Huish Park.
Paul Mullin, club and the division's leading scorer in 2021-22, gave Wrexham an early lead with his first goal of the campaign but it was cancelled out by a stunning Glovers equaliser at the start of the second half.
But failure to find a second goal means the Reds, who beat Eastleigh 2-1 on the opening day, have never won both of their opening two games during 15 campaigns in the fifth tier.
Phil Parkinson made three changes from the side that started the opening day win against Eastleigh.
Left wing-back Jacob Mendy came in for his debut in place of Callum McFadzean, while the other two alterations were in midfield.
Elliot Lee, a super sub against the Spitfires when he scored twice following his 63rd minute introduction, and Jordan Davies took over from James Jones and Tom O'Connor who sustained a groin injury in the victory.
It wasn't long before Lee was in the thick of the action, beating a defender after being picked out by Davies before bringing a save out of goalkeeper Grant Smith.
But Wrexham took the lead in the sixth minute.
Mark Howard's long clearance reached Mullin who powered into the box and fired past Smith with a cool finish.
Wrexham continued to press and the lively Lee cut inside from the left before seeing a low shot lack power and comfortably dealt with by Smith.
Yeovil, enjoying their share of possession, got into some promising positions themselves but no-one was able to get onto the end of Matt Worthington's dangerous free-kick which flew across the face of goal.
Back came the Reds and Ollie Palmer's powerful goalbound effort was blocked by a defender while after a quiet period as the heat took his toll, Mendy and Palmer combined to set-up Mullin who was also thwarted by a defender's block.
Yeovil had a brilliant opportunity to make it 1-1 early in the second half but Howard pulled off a superb save to deny Malachi Linton.
However, the Glovers striker responded with a stunning equaliser after 49 minutes.
The ball fell to Linton just outside the area and he found the back of the net with a dipping volley which gave Howard no chance.
A mis-hit Mullin shot earned Wrexham a corner while Yeovil came close to taking the lead on 76 minutes when a low cross reached Charlie Wakefield at the far post but Reds' substitute Bryce Hosannah made a superb block to thwart the midfielder.
The Glovers were enjoying a spell on top but Palmer put Smith under pressure at the other end, with the goalkeeper doing well to recover and claim the ball to prevent the Wrexham striker from slotting into the back of the net.
Neither side could find a winner and it finished all-square.
