PAUL MULLIN wants to finish the job off and give Wrexham supporters the promotion they deserve.

The Reds trailed Stockport County by 11 points in March but took the National League title race down to the final game of the regular season before settling for runners-up spot behind the Hatters.

Despite missing out on top spot, Phil Parkinson's side have another chance to join Stockport County in the Football League as they face Grimsby Town in the play-off semi-final at The Racecourse tomorrow.

Mullin, the 30-goal leading scorer who has scooped the Player of the Season award, wants to make the most of the opportunity.

"As a footballer, promotions and winning things are always your aim," said Mullin, who also also landed the National League Golden Boot with 26 of his strikes coming in the fifth tier.

"We have come a long way from where we were in December to get to this position, now we want to finish it off and try and get over the line.

"This club has been in this league too long, it should be miles higher than it is, and it is our responsibility to try and take it there because the fans have given us everything this year.

"All the money they have spent to come and support us, the opportunity to perform in front of them has been great and now it is our turn to try and repay them."

Mullin, brought in from Cambridge United last summer, has become a huge fans' favourite and he has enjoyed his first season in north Wales.

"I think it has worked out lovely here," added Mullin.

"I have loved every minute of it here but obviously I am grateful for all the support I have had.

"The fans love me here and I love playing in front of them.

"But ultimately it is to be successful and hopefully I can give them even more to shout about so that is what I will keep trying to do."
