THERE were plenty of fine showings from Wrexham AAC members in the Warrington AC open.

Two podium spots were achieved by Lucy Jones in the U15 girls' section - second in the long jump (4.49m) and third in the 300-metres (44.5).

In the U13 girls' category, Sophie Forgrave (4-39.3) was fourth in the 1200-metres and she clocked 15.6 seconds for the 100-metres, while an effort of 16.5 seconds saw Annabelle Jones finish fourth in the 70-metre hurdles.

Turning to the U11 girls' events and Bethan Roberts clocked 12.2 seconds for the 75-metres, while she rounded the 400-metres in 76.2.

There were three U11 boys' events for Spencer Jones, who was third in the soft javelin (13.35), while he achieved 77.3 for the 400-metres and 12.4 in the 75-metres.

There was a strong club contingent at the Borders Road Race League meeting at Tattenhall, with the men's team fifth in Division One and the women fourth in Division Two.

Leading the charge were Ryan Davis (third in 31.11), Luke Northall (sixth in 31.44), Sean Merryweather (12th in 32.59) and Joel Gomes (16th in 33.17).

Linda Jones (34th in 47.02) was Wrexham's leading woman, followed by Sarah Grimshaw (57th in 51.46) and Paula Morris (70th in 56.33).

Competing across the pond was Wrexham AAC's Thomas Walley, who was third in the pole vault (4.85m) at the Triton Invitational in La Jolla, California.

Closer to home, a time of 4-20.01 saw Charles Ashley finish 143rd in the Llangollen Fell Run.

Luke Northall clocked 72.17 in the Cardiff Half Marathon, while Ian Jones (1,070th) was the third M60 with his time of 2-58.03 at the Manchester Marathon.

A strong contingent turned out for the West Cheshire AC open, with Finley Boulton third in the senior men's mile (4-54.6), while Mathew Williams won both the senior men's shot putt (6.63m) abd discus (22.03m).

Paul Brooks competed in the M70 shot (7.34) and discus (24.98), with Martin Tucker throwing 42.17 in the M55 javelin.

Connor Tweed triumphed in the U17 men's shot (11.03), discus (24.34) and javelin (41.09), with U13 girls Sophie Forgrave, Evie Hughes and Annabelle Jones also competing, as well as Grace Hughes (U11 girls) and Spencer Jones (U11 boys).

At the Trafford AC medal meet, Spencer Jones was victorious in both the U11 boys' 75-metres (12.93) and 150-metres (26.25), with Annabelle Jones third in the U13 girls' 75-metres (12.46).

There was a third-placed finish for Oliver Edwards in the senior men's 400-metres (53.21).
