PHIL PARKINSON urged no let-up from his side in the second half against Barnet and he got his wish as clinical Wrexham secured a brilliant 6-0 win at The Racecourse.
The Reds were well-in control at the break and leading three-nil after the club’s three top scorers - Ollie Palmer, Paul Mullin and Jordan Davies - added to their tallies.
Parkinson didn’t want the game to peter out in the second period and sensing in-form Wrexham could go on and get more goals, the players delivered with Ben Tozer, Reece Hall-Johnson and Liam McAlinden getting on the scoresheet.
“I said to the lads at half-time that people have paid good money to watch us and I didn’t want the game to just peter out, and end up not dominating the second half,” said Parkinson.
“I felt if we did it right, there was more goals in it for us and the lads did that really well.”
Parkinson hailed a professional performance from his side as Wrexham extended the unbeaten run to 12 games in all competitions and built on Saturday’s 2-0 win against Stockport which secured a place in the FA Trophy final.
Wrexham are now second in the National League, eight points behind the Hatters with nine matches to go.
“It was just a professional display from us,” said Parkinson.
“It was important we backed up the win against Stockport and important that we learnt from the Dover game as well, and I felt we did that.
“We were very professional, played some good football but didn’t get carried away, did the right things in the right areas with the ball and we got our rewards in the end.
“Good teams keep producing performances.
“The pats on the back from Stockport, we spoke to the lads about the pats on the back after we beat Halifax live on TV and then in the Dover game, we suddenly started thinking we were better than we were.
“As the season goes on you have got to learn lessons and take care of their key players.
“Before the game we spoke about going down to Barnet and winning 3-0; it was only comfortable because we made it comfortable with the way we went about our business, and that is what we did tonight.
“I am so pleased, six different goalscorers as well, it is a good night for the squad.”
