PAUL MULLIN and Ollie Palmer are forming a potent partnership and Phil Parkinson hailed his strike duo's work rate as well as their goals.

Paired in attack once again for Tuesday's top of the table clash against Boreham Wood, both frontmen found the net as third placed Wrexham triumphed 4-2 at The Racecourse to close the gap on leaders Stockport County to six points.

Record signing Palmer got the ball rolling with his sixth strike since arriving from AFC Wimbledon during the January transfer window and leading scorer Mullin bagged his 17th goal of the season to seal the Reds' sixth win in a row in all competitions.

Although delighted to see the deadly duo on target once again, Parkinson felt both Mullin and Palmer's all-round contribution and work ethic was the perfect platform for a superb performance from his side in the push for promotion.

"I thought they were good," said Parkinson.

"They are getting better and better together, but also the work for the team was excellent.

"I was so pleased with Ollie's goal, a great goal, and Mulls has gone and killed the game off.

"I thought the work for the team, the link-up play, was good from those two and if you have got the front two prepared to work hard for the team, if spreads through the rest of the group."

Level at 1-1 at the break, Wrexham stepped up a gear in the second half and a brilliant display was rewarded with three goals in front of more than 8,700 supporters who went home happy.

"I am so pleased that when supporters come that they have seen a great game of football," added Parkinson.

"Good entertainment and a lot of goalmouth action, that is what it is all about.

"The supporters have got such a big part to play for us and they are doing their part; hopefully it continues."
