'TRUST the people in charge' is Cameron Green's philosophy as speculation over the new Wrexham manager continues.
The club parted company with Dean Keates after the Reds failed to secure a play-off spot and are now preparing for a 14th season in non-league.
Green will be in the Wrexham ranks after signing a new contract and while a number of names are in the frame to take over The Racecourse hotseat, the left-back has faith in the powers-that-be.
"The club will stay the same and hopefully we will have a manager that comes in and is bright and positive," said Green.
"I trust the club to appoint the right guy.
"My job is not to think about a manager, my job is to put that shirt on, try and put a smile on the faces of the fans and win football games whoever the manager is.
"That is irrelevant to me, I am just going to try and be the best Cameron Green possible."
Green was in the football wilderness after leaving Watford last summer and hadn't played in 2020-21 before the 22-year-old was recommended to Keates.
He joined the Reds on non-contract terms in April following a successful trial and has now put pen to paper on a permanent deal until the end of the 2021/22 campaign, with the option of a further year, after impressing in the run-in.
Keates is no longer at Wrexham but Green will be "forever indebted" to his former manager for giving him his big chance.
"I spoke to the gaffer and said: 'you are one of the very few people that believed in me when many people didn't'," added Green.
"I will be forever indebted to him and I will always owe Dean Keates a lot in my life.
"I will never forget what he, Darlo, Andy and Oaksey did for me.
"When I hit rock bottom, they took me in and gave me a chance to put a smile back on my face.
"I am quite a positive person but I wasn't positive at that time so I cannot speak highly enough of the gaffer.
"He is a great guy, a great manager and I hope to see him back in football very soon because he is far too good to be out of it."
