CEFN DRUIDS remain in the relegation zone after former Welsh international David Cotterill’s penalty gave Barry Town United a 1-0 win at The Rock.
Cotterill was spot on from 12 yards just a minute before the break after Nat Jarvis had been fouled in the box by Aaron Simpson.
Druids gave it their all but could not find a way past visiting keeper, Mike Lewis.
“I thought we deserved to go into the break with a 1-0 lead,” Barry boss Gavin Chesterfield told his club’s website.
“The game opened up in the second half and that was perhaps to be expected with it being the first game back. It basically became a game of basketball.
“I’ll give Druids credit for the way they played but Mike hasn’t had a lot to do. We had numerous counter attack situations which we really should have capitalised on but clouded thinking let us down.
“First game back, away from home, three points, clean sheet. I’m delighted.”
Aberystwyth Town remain bottom after a thrilling end to their 2-2 draw at Caernarfon Town, managed by former Druids boss Huw Griffiths.
There were three goals in the late stages of the clash at The Oval - including Jamie Veale’s 95th-minute free-kick that earned the bottom club a point.
Jon Owen had given Aber the lead but a debut goal from Jake Bickerstaff, who is on-loan from Wrexham, and Sio Bradley turned the game in Caernarfon’s favour.
But Aber, who are just a point behind Druids and 10th-placed Flint, had their rewards in stoppage time.
A first half penalty from Danny Williams, who is on-loan from Cardiff City, gave Haverfordwest County a 1-0 win over Cardiff Met in the day’s only other game.
