JAMIE DIGWOOD has left his role as director of Cefn Druids.
Digwood and Des Williams joined forces late last year to take over at The Rock.
At the time of the takeover, Williams said: “We are budgeting for a “mid-range” six-figure investment in the club in a bid to get into the top six in the Welsh Premier with a view to playing regular European football.
“We are planning for the academy and want to have at least four players coming into the first team.
“This is about development in the community and recruiting from Wales.”
But a winding up order relating to debts from 2018/19 that was undeclared to the new investors caused problems, before the coronavirus pandemic turned the football world upside down.
Digwood invested in Druids to fulfil an ambition to “develop a football club that is a model of professionalism and helps players reach their potential in a professional environment. A football club that has the best facilities, coaching and has a reputation for excellence”.
But his time as director of Druids was brought to an end last week, Digwood issuing the following statement to the club upon his departure.
The statement read: “Dear all, may I thank each and everyone of you. And secondly wish each and everyone of you success and happiness in the future.
“I have decided to revisit my life away from Welsh football and concentrate on other things.
“I’ve enjoyed my time at the club and I hope the club goes from strength to strength as it’s made big strides in a very short time. Kind regards Jamie.”
Despite Digwood’s departure, Druids are pressing ahead with plans for the 2020/21 Cymru Premier campaign, which is set to start on Friday, September 11.
A new head coach to replace Stuart Gelling is set to be announced early next week, while Druids are closing in on a handful of signings to add to Alex Darlington, who has put pen-to-paper on a deal for the next season.
