A CHIRK resident has described the "constant nuisance" of dust around his family home after raising concerns about a nearby wood panel manufacturing factory.
The Leader reported recently on the concerns of Chirk Councillor Terry Evans, who said he felt complaints about Kronospan had been 'ignored' by both the company and Wrexham Council.
Now Maes-yr-Ysgol resident Leighton Edwards has described the impact the issue has for him and his family.
The 44-year-old said: "We've lived here for 22 years and we must be between 400 to 800 metres away from the site.
"I used to let it go and not let it get on top of me, because it can consume your life.
"But it's starting to depress me in a certain way.
"We've complained to Kronospan and to the council, but we get nowhere.
"The dust has a big impact, because it gets all over my car, all over my gym equipment in my garage - if we have the windows open on a nice day it's going to get into the house.
"When you go in the back garden it's all over the furniture. It's horrendous.
"We get a nearly constant film on windows as well.
"I can't conclusively say it affects my health, but it can't be good for you, breathing that in.
"It is a worry because I have four children breathing this in too.
"It's come to the point where I'm thinking about moving."
Cllr Terry Evans told the Leader he isn't "anti-Kronospan" but he wants the company to be a "good neighbour."
Mr Edwards agreed, adding: "All factories have to keep going and I understand that, but it's a constant nuisance. "I'm just out for them to clean up their act."
When approached about Cllr Evans' concerns, a Kronpspan spokesman said: "Kronospan has regular Council liaison meetings which Councillor Evans attends, where we discuss the measures in place on site to monitor air quality.
"The site operates in compliance with the conditions detailed in our environmental permit, which for the main operating business is currently issued by Wrexham County Borough Council.
"Wrexham County Borough Council have installed the best available air quality monitoring equipment which they manage and they publish the results.
"Kronospan always does its best to be a good neighbour and minimise the impact of our operations on the community.
"If a resident of Chirk has a complaint or enquiry regarding an issue related to our operations they can contact the site directly on 01691 773361.
"This phone line is available 24 hours a day, and prompt reporting allows us to investigate immediately."
The company was approached for further comment about Mr Edwards' concerns, as was Wrexham Council.
