AN EIGHT-year-old from Wrexham has raised over £4,000 to support her cousin with cerebral palsy ahead of a charity challenge.

Robyn Walsh, from Wrexham is planning on swimming a mile, which equates to 64 lengths of Gwyn Evans pool on December 8.

She is taking on the challenge to raise money for her cousin Maeve, 5, who has cerebral palsy.

Maeve suffered several cardiac arrests when she was only a day old, leaving her with a severe brain injury which caused cerebral palsy, epilepsy and dystonia.

Despite all this, Maeve is a "very happy little girl, who loves to communicate in her own way".

In order to help Maeve, Robyn, who has been regularly training ahead of the challenge, is fundraising in a bid to get her cousin access to speech and language therapy to try help her move forward.

A JustGiving page was set up ahead of Robyn's challenge, with a target of £500. That was eclipsed within minutes, with the total currently sitting at £4,030.
