MEMBER of the Senedd for Delyn, Hannah Blythyn, hosted a public meeting at Flint Town Hall to discuss the future of public transport in the community.
The event, held on Friday, November 22, brought together residents, local businesses, and an expert panel to address pressing questions about public transport in Flintshire.
The forum provided a valuable opportunity for transport providers to engage directly with the public, discussing significant changes to our transport system.
Hannah Blythyn MS said: “Local residents know all too well that our corner of the country has its challenges as far as public transport is concerned, which is why I saw the need to arrange a forum to get the conversation going so we can improve our services.
"Thank you to everyone who came the public meeting. It was an interesting discussion where residents raised vital issues and had the opportunity to feedback their views to experts from the industry.
"The event will hopefully be a start, rather than an end of the discussion on the future of public transport in our area and across the country.”
The Welsh Government's ambitious plan to create a unified network and integrated timetable, accessible with a single ticket, was a key topic of discussion.
The event commenced with a panel session hosted by Hannah Blythyn MS, where an expert panel shared updates on their contribution’s bus, rail, and active travel routes across North Wales.
Members of the public were able to voice their concerns and queries, as well as talk provide some suggestions on how public transport can be improved across Flintshire.

Transport for Wales representative, Lee Robinson, said: "It was a real privilege to have the opportunity to meet members of the community and to hear their wide-ranging experiences of public transport in this part of Wales. Transport for Wales’s mission is “one network, one timetable, one ticket, one team”
"Reflecting on the feedback from this forum it’s easy to see the opportunity that exists to create a truly integrated, passenger focussed network that delivers effective public transport, not just for this community – but for everyone in Wales.”
Following the Q&A, transport providers set up stalls to offer detailed information and engage in one-on-one discussions with residents.
The voices of public transport workers were also heard, with contributions from ASLEF and Unite the Union, providing valuable insights into the challenges faced by the workforce in delivering public transport across the constituency and region.
This meeting underscored the commitment to improving public transport in Flintshire and fostering a collaborative approach between the community, transport providers, and the Welsh Government.
Adam Marshal from Arriva said: “Thank you to Hannah Blythyn MS and her team for organising the Public Transport Forum at Flint Town Hall.
"It was a really useful opportunity to bring together representatives from bus, train, Flintshire County Council and other organisations in a forum where we can listen to the communities we serve.
"Arriva is committed to working with all parties involved to improve public transport in North Wales and will use feedback from the day in planning services.”
