A NEW Post Office will open in Wrexham this week following the merger of two former branches.
Residents in Hightown were left disappointed with the news that the Kingsmills Post Office branch had closed its doors late last month.
However, following a public consultation, it has been confirmed that the branch is set to merge with the Bryn Hafod Post Office branch and relocate to Prince Charles Road.
The new branch will be located at 6 Prince Charles Road, Wrexham, LL13 8YD and will be known as the Prince Charles Road Post Office.
It will open its doors on Thursday (December 5) at 1pm.
A spokesperson for the Post Office said: "On Friday (29/11) we announced that after local public consultation and review, we have made the decision to proceed with the move of the above Post Office to: 6 Prince Charles Road, Wrexham, LL13 8YD, where it will merge with the Bryn Hafod Post Office branch and will be known as Prince Charles Road Post Office.

"Kingsmill Post Office at 49 Kingsmills Road, Wrexham, LL13 8NL, closed on 19 November. The merged branch at 6 Prince Charles Road opens on 5 December at 1pm."
The consultation was launched in September and was brought about following the expiry of the lease at the Kingsmills site and the resignation of the postmaster at the Bryn Hafod branch.
The Prince Charles Road Post Office is set to be one of the Post Office's "main style branches", with retail of cards and stationery. There is also set be two screened Post Office counters.
In the initial consultation, the Post Office confirmed that the outreach services run by the Bryn Hafod postmaster in Marchwiel, Bangor Is Y Coed, Rossett, Penley, Higher Kinnerton, and Cockshutt would close, with no plans to replace them.
