A FLINTSHIRE woman fears a car left submerged in a river could end up stuck in her back garden.
The Leader reported last week on a car which entered the River Terrig near Leeswood and been left there for over a week.
The car remains in the river, and is now just metres away from a listed bridge which is hundreds of years old.
Elaine Heard, whose garden the river runs through, has raised grave concerns for the bridge should the car collide with it.
"It's an absolutely beautiful bridge that horses used to cross to get to Leeswood Mill," she said.
"It's listed and work was done in the summer on it as it's structurally weak. God forbid the damage that it could sustain if the car reaches the bridge - it will bang into it or get lodged underneath.
"The car is only a few metres away and a day of heavy rainfall and raised water levels will see it flow directly into the path of the bridge. It's so easy to remove where it is now, I can't understand why no one's done anything about it."

Natural Resources Wales has said it would be down to the police and the car's insurance company to remove it.
Elaine added: "There are trout in the river where it flows through my garden and they're letting petrol and all sorts pollute the river. It's so sad.
"If the car does end up coming under the bridge, my garden is walled so I have no idea how it would be recovered. I could be left with a car stuck there with no way of getting it out.
"I've lived here for 38 years and it's the most worried about something relating to the river. It's disrespectful for it to just be left in the river like this."
Carolyn Thomas, Member of the Senedd for North Wales, said: "We have contacted the police who are looking to find the person whose car it is. They have given us a reference number of Q125095 for anyone who has any information.
"It's been there for nearly two weeks and it's so worrying how much pollution could be going in the river. It could also badly damage the bridge.
"We want the authorities to work together to get this sorted as soon as possible."
The Leader has approached North Wales Police for comment on the matter.
