Ben Elton's 'Authentic Stupidity' tour will come to Wrexham in 2025.

The comedian has extended his sold-out UK tour into next year due to 'phenomenal demand' for tickets.

The 34 new dates will mean the tour takes on 83 shows across the UK and Ireland until February 27, 2025.

This includes a limited West End run at the Duke of York’s Theatre from January 13 to 18.

Tickets for the new dates including the Wrexham show are on sale now.

Mr Elton said: "Next year is shaping up to be huge for me.

"Not only is my Authentic Stupidity Tour being extended into 2025 with 34 more regional dates and a week at The Duke of York’s Theatre in London's West End, but I also become eligible for my state pension.

"Now that’s proper Rock n’ Roll."

The comedian, who last toured five years ago, will address the changes in the world since then, including the emergence of artificial intelligence.

However, he warns that AI is not the greatest threat we face, but rather 'authentic stupidity.'

The tour will visit various locations across the UK and Ireland, including Wrexham's William Aston Hall on January 9.

Mr Elton's career spans over four decades and includes television shows such as The Young Ones, Blackadder, and Upstart Crow.

He has also enjoyed West End plays, musicals, best-selling novels, and feature films.

Last October, he returned to Channel 4 for a one-off revival of Friday Night Live, which was critically acclaimed and won him the BAFTA for Comedy Entertainment Programme 2023.

The tour has received rave reviews, with The Sunday Times stating: "Just give him a stage and a microphone and Ben Elton is the best.

"No contest."

The Daily Telegraph said: "Elton’s timing and phrasing remain impeccable, his structure is masterly."

The Evening Standard declared: "There is nothing, absolutely nothing, to beat Ben Elton live."

The Scotsman described him as "vital, relevant, and passionate."
