CROWDS braved the cold in Flint yesterday evening to show their support as this year's Christmas lights were turned on (November 28).

There was a wonderful turn out as residents gathered to enjoy the markets, fair rides and live performances.

Town Clerk Lesley Woo said: "What an incredible night at the Christmas Lights Switch-On event! The turnout was amazing, with so many residents coming together to enjoy the markets, fair rides, and wonderful performances from our talented school choirs.

"The lights, were switched on by the Flint Ladies football team, a huge thank you and the lights look absolutely fantastic—our town is truly shining bright this festive season!

"A special thank you to the Flint and Holywell Rotary Club for arranging a magical visit from Father Christmas—it truly made the evening unforgettable!

"We would also like to sincerely apologise for the fireworks starting at 6pm instead of 7pm. This was an error made by the firework company, who have expressed their apologies. We hope many of you were still able to enjoy the fantastic display.

"It’s heartwarming to see the community come together to start the festive season in such a spectacular way. A huge thank you to all who contributed to making this event so special."

Mayor of Flint Melly Buckley added: "As Mayor of Flint this year, I was absolutely delighted to be able to invite Flint Town United Ladies FC to be the guests of honour and officially switch the brand new Christmas Lights on.

"The team had a world class league campaign last season winning every match that they played and gained a very well earned promotion.
