MYSTERY surrounds a car which has been in a river in Flintshire for over a week.
The car has been submerged in the River Terrig near Leeswood for over a week without being recovered.
It is situated near the road that runs past the White Gates at the entrance to Leeswood Hall, and has prompted concerns.
One person told The Leader: "It obviously went in opposite the Whitegates, and was washed under the road bridge by the force of water.
"It was between the road bridge, and second bridge, which has a preservation order on it. Locals are worried that the car will damage this bridge.
"With the oil and petrol leaking in to the water it's worrying for the health of the river. I don't know why the authorities haven't removed it sooner."
Leeswood county councillor, Ray Hughes, said he'd "made some enquiries" but was unable to find the owner of the vehicle, or how it ended up in the river.
Natural Resources Wales, which manages the river, has been approached for further information.
