CROWDS gathered for another popular and successful Mold Christmas light switch on event. 

Thousands of people attended the event in the town centre last night (Tuesday, November 27) as Mold got into the festive spirit. 

There was lots for people to enjoy, with a funfair on the high street running from late afternoon until the conclusion of the event. There was performances on the Daniel Owen Square from the Mold Town Band, Disney Princess Elsa, Amy Tasker and Cindy Lou.

And there was an appearance from the Grinch, before Father Christmas arrived to switch the lights on at 6.30pm. 

Jane Evans, Mold Town Council's events and community engagement officer, said: "Thank you to everyone who attended last night’s Christmas light switch on, once again the evening was a very well attended event with lots of families enjoying the entertainment and fun fair. 

"All our performers made the evening extra special with their festive songs and special thanks goes out to all the brilliant school choirs, Amy Tasker, Mold Town Concert Band and our Disney Princess Elsa.

(Image: Simon Warburton) "Father Christmas took time away from his very busy schedule to visit Mold and turn on our lights and then he spoke to hundreds of children who visited his grotto, Father Christmas left Mold with an even bigger list of things to get ready for Christmas morning."

She added: "As with all our events, the Christmas light switch on just would not be possible without our amazing volunteers who help set up, take down and manage the event, they deserve the biggest recognition of the evening as without them, the event would not happen. 

"Mold is now looking very festive and I would encourage everyone to visit the town to do their Christmas shopping, we have an amazing array of shops and stalls and of course lots of great eateries for when you need a break from the shopping."
