A WREXHAM woman with Multiple Sclerosis who was left in coma during a charity walking challenge is set to take on her biggest yet.

Kate Langwine-Cook walked 150km in October for the Mind charity - one close to her heart.

"This time of year can be so difficult for so many of us who struggle with mental health issues," the 39-year-old said.

"I myself, aside from Multiple Sclerosis, live and very much battle life with crippling PTSD from spending my adult life fighting MS and being in and out of hospital. I also suffer with Bipolar disorder, anxiety and depression. I wanted to set myself a physical challenge so starting while on holiday in Barcelona and finishing in Wrexham I walked 150km."

"I had a spasm which caused the muscles in my back to crush my kidney. The paramedics who responded and worked on me along with the wonderful staff at Wrexham Maelor Hospital took great care of me.

"The problem was, I hadn't finished my 150km fundraising challenge. With very shaky legs as a result of my MS responding to the spasm it was very difficult to walk. But  I refused to not complete the goal I had set myself. On October 31 I completed the final 2km of my 150km fundraising challenge."

She is doing so to raise vital funds for Wrexham Foodbank in the run up to Christmas. Her GoFundMe page can be accessed via https://bit.ly/3AYJtIi.

Kate said: "It has to be a static bike due to my balance being poor as a result of brain stem damage from my MS - I can no longer safely road cycle. It's definitely the biggest physical challenge I've done to date, but I'm determined to complete it.

"This time I will be fundraising for the Wrexham Foodbank. So many people of our town sadly are in need of vital provisions from the foodbank.

"I hope that my fundraising will help make other families Christmas' a little easier if they are in need of accessing the foodbank."
