A WREXHAM man who broke his ex-partner's jaw after attacking her in her own home has been jailed.
Theo Mertakkas, of Huntsman's Corner, Borras, appeared before Caernarfon Crown Court for sentencing on Thursday (November 21).
The 28-year-old had previously admitted breaching a restraining order and inflicting grievous bodily harm with intent.
Dafydd Roberts, prosecuting, said that Mertakkas was made subject to a restraining order not to contact his ex-partner, Amy Jones, in February of this year after receiving a suspended sentence for battery and criminal damage.
The court heard that at around 12.30pm on August 31, Mertakkas wandered into the kitchen of Miss Jones' property through an unlocked door. After Miss Jones went to grab her phone, he placed her in a headlock before punching her multiple times - breaking Miss Jones' jaw.

He then dragged her along the floor and Miss Jones went limp, saying: "Look at what you've made me do". The defendant then kicked her legs, and then went to kick her in the head - stopping when Miss Jones screamed.
Miss Jones went to hospital, where a scan revealed a broken jaw which required surgery. In a victim personal statement, Miss Jones said he caused her the "worst pain since childbirth". Mertakkas was arrested two days later.
David Birrell, defending, said Mertakkas, who had nine previous convictions for 20 offences, has a serious drink problem which affects his behaviour. He is said to have completed an alcohol abstinence requirement in the past, but relapsed. However, Mr Birrell said the defendant remains motivated to address his alcohol abuse, and expresses genuine remorse for what happened.
Judge Timothy Petts sentenced Mertakkas to two-and-a-half years imprisonment, and extended the restraining order for a further five years.
