A FLINTSHIRE man who bombarded his ex-partner with calls and texts despite being subject to a restraining order has been jailed.
Ryan Challinor, of Church Street in Flint, appeared before Caernarfon Crown Court on Thursday (November 21).
The 29-year-old had previously admitted four counts of breaching a restraining order and affray.
Michael Whitty, prosecuting, said that on March 8 of this year Challinor was at the Toby Carvery in Mickle Trafford, near Chester, with his now ex-partner.
A couple in a booth next to the defendant asked them to turn down the loud music being played. An argument ensued and Challinor picked up a fork and "lunged" at the complainant, but no physical contact was made. Challinor was abusive to the defendant, and threatened to "get 20 lads to beat him up".
Regarding the restraining order breaches, the court heard that Challinor had previously been in a relationship with Jennifer Orme for eight years. In May, 2023 Challinor was made subject to a five-year restraining order from Miss Orme following a conviction for stalking.
On September 21 of this year, the defendant was sending messages to Miss Orme asking if he could attend her home. After Miss Orme blocked the number, Challinor made 42 calls between 9am on September 21 and 3am the following day. He also attended near her home, and a neighbour called the police after he was observed "screaming and shouting" at around 3am.

Police officers attended Miss Orme's address, but Challinor had left before they arrived. While they were there, Challinor called again. The conversation was captured via an officer's body cam and played to the court. Challinor repeatedly asked Miss Orme where she was and whom she was with, and threatening to "smash" her house up.
Dafydd Roberts, defending, said Challinor has an issue with cocaine use which impacts his behaviour and is something he's looking to address while in custody.
Judge Timothy Petts sentenced Challinor to 20 months imprisonment. A new restraining order was made for a period of 10 years.
