FORD Fiesta vehicles, particularly the ST model, are being targeted for theft in the Flintshire area, say police.
North Wales Police have warned Ford Fiesta owners that they could be more likely to be pulled over by police as they check that they aren’t stolen after a wave of thefts nationwide.
According to an update by officers in North Flintshire Neighbourhood Policing Team, this is due to advances in the tactics used by thieves and due to changes in their production. Ford Fiesta owners are being asked to take precautions as a result.

A police spokesperson said: "We can’t reveal sensitive intelligence regarding the theft strategy in case we give people ideas, however we are urging owners to utilise a Steering Wheel Lock and faraday boxes for their keys. If you have a tracker ensure it is activated and operational.
"We noted a similar trend with Navara’s and issued a similar message, we also stopped a number of Navara’s in the area. If you are a fiesta owner, you may be temporarily inconvenienced by a police stop, this is so we can ensure vehicles are not stolen."
Residents are being asked to spread the message across the Flintshire area to deter opportunistic theft.
